OCU-GUARD’s flexible shielding is composed of finely divided lead particles, fully encapsulated within a durable vinyl matrix. With a lead content equivalent to protective aprons, radiation attenuation is greater than 93%. The lead metal particles are firmly bound within the vinyl structure, ensuring that absorption from the product to the skin is not possible.

The unique manufacturing process ensures an even distribution of the specially graded pure lead within the vinyl matrix and a consistent level of protection throughout the shield. OCU-GUARD shields pass the three most universally recognized testing procedures for radiation materials, which includes: ASTM (widely used in the U.S.), IEC 61331-1 (widely used throughout the world), and DIN6857-1 (German Standard, the toughest of them all).

A durable solution is a key pillar of the product design.
The OCU-GUARD core flexible leaded shielding will not deteriorate, no matter how many exams. The skinned surface is impervious to degradation, and aside from routine cleaning with standard disinfectant wipes, is maintenance free. Each shield is guaranteed to last a minimum of 500 exams, making the cost per use approximately 10 cents.
